Measuring Their Lives In Love

I watched Rent for the second time around. It's a nice movie indeed, the music, the story, everything (though you should be mature enough to watch the film). It is a story of 8 individuals each with a struggle to deal with. What fascinates me most with these people is that they try to continue to live their lives, swallowing their pride, doing everything out of concern just to help each one to survive. In the end, they realized their vulnerabilities and accepted the fact that life isn't perfect and love is the only thing that would make them live. I almost broke down into tears during the ending. Awitan 2006 And Everything

Ok Ok... I haven't posted for a long while. Same reason, I'm busy with a lot of things especially because the Engineering Week has just ended. I have 2 orgs in my college and I'm having a hard time scheduling my activities for both. The major event that I join to every Eng'g Week is the famous Awitan sponsored by the UP KEM. It was held last Monday, Dec. 11, 2006 at the UP Theatre. This year, the theme is alternative music. Our chosen piece is Noypi by Bamboo (nice arrangement! Thanks to Mr. Ronald Bello.) and the contest piece is Fruitcake by Eraserheads. I only rehearsed for the competition for one week and I did have a hard time. This year's contest piece was a little bit harder. Our group haven't prepared so much for the competition due to so many excuses (include mine). We didn't win this year but a lot of groups really deserve to be winners. What's good with Awitan this year is that everyone did the best that they can to make this competition more than being a battle of voices. I enjoyed watching the other groups because of the nice choreography and colorful costumes. Astig!!! The audience were very lively during the competition even though it started very late at 9:30pm.

Moving fast forward, yesterday's (Dec. 15, 2006) lantern parade didn't work out well. The parade was canceled by the UP administration due to some security threats. But some colleges still pushed through to make the lantern parade possible. The bad news: Tuition and other fees increase (TOFI) was approved by the Board of Regents for the incoming freshmen. A lot would really be affected by this decision especially those who couldn't afford that kind of tuition fee. From 300PhP/unit, the tuition fee increased to 1000PhP/unit. Grabe!!! Well. we can't do anything about this. All we can do is pray for those people who might be affected by the TOFI.
Yes!! It's Christmas break! Time to relax and unwind. But kids, always remember the true reason why we are having this celebration. It's more than relaxation and unwinding but it's something eternal. It's more than the material things. I hope you know what am I trying to say because Christmas won't be a Christmas after all if you don't know the meaning of the celebration... MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
